Almost every couple I've talked to about their wedding has said the same thing about the guest book: it was beautiful the day of, it's beautiful the day you finally frame the page, and then it sits in a drawer for the next thirty years.
Why the traditional guest book doesn't get read
The book format has two problems. First, it's a book, so it lives on a shelf spine-out, and no one takes it down. Second, most of the entries are variations of "Congratulations! Love, [name]" — beautiful individually, but not something you re-read as a full volume.
The couples who have solved this problem have shifted to a display object instead of a book. Something guests interact with on the wedding day, and something that becomes a permanent piece of the home after.
The wooden alternative
Our Carved Tree Heart Block II is the piece most couples pick for this — a tall walnut block with a heart negative-space between two intertwined tree carvings, and a smooth side face where the couple's names and date get burn-engraved before the wedding.
How to use it as a guest keepsake: guests sign a smaller ancillary card or ribbon during the reception, and those cards go into a small wooden box we can include with the order. The Tree Block itself becomes the ceremonial anchor — it lives on the head table during the wedding, and then in the couple's home. Guests remember signing the cards. The couple remembers seeing the sculpture at their own wedding.
Other formats couples have used
The Love Birds Sculpture as centerpiece. Two carved birds on a shared perch — one couple, one date, engraved. Sits at the entrance table for the ceremony, then travels home.
The Infinity Heart Sculpture with a guest-signature pedestal. Some couples have the pedestal left semi-blank so that guests sign in soft pencil on the day, and after the wedding the couple has us re-engrave the guest signatures permanently. This is a custom order and takes 3 weeks — please ask if this is what you want.
Timing
Please order any wedding-day piece at least 4 weeks before the date. This gives us room for a proof, a shipping window, and a customs buffer for international deliveries. If you're inside 4 weeks, contact us before you order and we'll tell you honestly whether we can make it.
