Fifty years married. That's an achievement most couples never get to celebrate. And if the couple you're buying for is your parents, or grandparents, or a couple you've watched from close proximity for decades, the gift has to somehow rise to that moment.
What the 50th deserves
Anything ephemeral is off the table. A cake, a bouquet, a night out — all lovely, but the couple has probably had thousands of dinners together and doesn't need another one to remember Saturday specifically.
What a 50th deserves is an object with the same lifespan as the marriage. Something that would be a real physical presence in the home for another decade if the couple is lucky enough to have one, and a physical presence in a child's home for generations after that.
Which sculpture for a 50th
First Dance Couple. Our most popular 50th anniversary order. A stylised sculpture of two dancing figures with the wedding date engraved on the round base. Sits on a mantle or a display shelf. Deeply romantic without being sentimental.
Carved Tree Heart Block II. Two trees intertwined into a heart. The metaphor is fifty years of two lives grown together. Chosen most often by adult children giving on behalf of their parents.
Infinity Heart Sculpture. The classic. Reads as permanence, which is exactly the point at fifty years.
Engraving for a 50th anniversary
Most 50th anniversary pieces engrave both names and the wedding date. Some also add "50 YEARS · [YEAR] – [CURRENT YEAR]" on a second line. If the couple has a strong shared reference — a family name, the surname of their eldest grandchild, a phrase they say to each other — that can go on the reverse of the base.
For gifts from adult children, some customers add a small dedication line — "From your children" or "From the Larson family" — on the underside. It's not visible from any normal viewing angle but is there permanently for whoever eventually inherits the piece.
Timing
Order 4-5 weeks before the 50th anniversary date. This is not a piece to rush. We double-check the engraving, we send a proof, and we hand-finish on a slower schedule than our standard orders. A 50th anniversary sculpture is the piece that gets photographed, so we take the time.
