Memorial Keepsakes for Couples: A Gentle Guide

Memorial Keepsakes for Couples: A Gentle Guide

A memorial gift is one of the hardest gifts to give and one of the most meaningful to receive. Something about the physicality of a wooden sculpture — its weight, its permanence, its refusal to be casual — makes it work in a way that a card or a bouquet doesn't.

We don't have a separate "memorial" collection. The pieces used for memorial gifts are the same pieces used for wedding gifts and anniversary gifts. What changes is the engraving and the intent.

Pieces most often chosen for memorial gifts

Infinity Heart Sculpture. The most common choice. The infinity symbol reads as permanence without being religiously specific. The most common engraving format is a single first name, a birth date, and a passing date. Some customers add a short phrase — "always" or "forever loved" — beneath.

Carved Tree Heart Block II. The intertwined trees carry a natural symbolism of two lives that grew together. Chosen most often by surviving partners for a spouse's memorial.

Cloud Tree Couple. Two soft figures beneath a shared canopy. Often chosen when the memorial is for both parents together — engraved with both names and their wedding date, given to the adult child on the parents' anniversary after both have passed.

Engraving format for memorial pieces

Most memorial engravings follow one of two formats:

Single name format: [FIRST NAME LAST NAME] / [BIRTH DATE] — [PASSING DATE]. Clean, dignified, historically accurate.

Couple format: [NAME] & [NAME] / EST. [WEDDING DATE]. This works when both members of a couple have passed, and the sculpture is given to a family member as a permanent memory of the marriage itself, not either individual death.

How we handle memorial orders

Please write the intent in the personalisation notes. We'll match the tone — no exclamation marks in the shipping copy, no marketing follow-up emails after the piece is delivered, and no gift-note templates that don't fit the situation. We'll also send a plain, unbranded shipping box if you ask, which some customers appreciate for a piece being delivered to a home in mourning.

Please also allow an extra 3-5 days on lead time for memorial pieces. We do a second proof and a second finishing pass on these because there is genuinely no room to get them wrong.
